Soul Musings/Day 18: Sacred Patterns of Life

Infinite Inspiration

All around and within us lies the beauty and sacred patterns of life. Within this we discover the fullness and resonance of who we are.”

Gaye Abbott from Give Us This Day Our Daily Breath

The strands of our DNA, the cornea of our eye, snow flakes, pine cones, fower petals, diamond crystals, the branching of trees, water crystals, a nautilus shell, the star we spin around, the galaxy we spiral within, the air we breathe, and life forms as we know them emerge out of timeless geometric codes or geometrical archetypes.

Spending an entire afternoon exploring sacred geometry one day, I was lead to what seemed like spirals of understanding as I delved deeper into the patterns of life. It makes sense that even our breath is moving in patterns that support sacred design and breathing space to thrive in.

If this is so, then I wonder if we place ourselves in architecture built upon the patterns of sacred geometry and immerse ourselves in visionary art.

Create gardens that reflect back to us the fabric of our Being.

And seek out practices that open and align us with our deepest knowing and awareness of these geometric archetypes.

That the mystery of life will reveal more to us.

Illuminating the fullness and resonance of who we are.

Inspiring New Possibilities, Living From the Soul of Life While Co-creating Well Being of Body, Being, Heart and Planet….One Breath At A Time

Soul Musings is a 31-day practice for the month of December immersed in deep listening to what is emerging and unfolding day by day.  Eight sentences with occasional resources to explore more deeply.

Each post, invited by Soul, allows the words to emerge unscathed from prior planning, editing, or censorship.  Dwelling in uncertainty and dipping a toe into mystery this union of words is an attempt to resonate within an innate way of Being…. returning “home”.

Soul Musings/Day 9: Infinite Patience

Infinite Patience by Pamela Turczyn
Infinite Patience by Pamela Turczyn

With so many demands on our time and attention this time of year patience certainly can grow a little thin at times. Pamela Turczyn, the creator of the mandala above in collaboration with the maple tree, has created a practice that is actively “listening for something unfamiliar”.

This “unfamiliar” place rests in a vast space where patience resides. A space that can only be accessed if you commit to being in the present breathing moment.

I invite you to connect with this mandala through the rings of the maple tree that are represented here. Awareness on the breath deepens the experience and allows the journey to come to you.

Open attention, breath and soft visual focus will open you to the moment. A moment of Infinite Patience….

Resource: Patience Practice by Pamela Turczyn

“A maple tree with a special gift for it advised me that Patience has to do with one’s relationship with time; to cultivate Patience, one must be fully present in the moment. To do so, try silencing the inner monologue by first shifting to an attitude of open attention, as though you were listening for something unfamiliar.

~Practice Patience by visually tracking the curvy edges of tree rings in this mandala. You could do this using just your eyes, or you use could a capped pen or blunt pencil as a tool to trace along the edges.

Without rushing, follow every dip and projection all the way around one of the circular rings. Keep your focus on the exact point on the ring where you are at, without looking behind or projecting forward. Slow down if you find yourself jumping ahead. There is no reward for finishing quickly but there is a prize for bringing yourself present.

In the present moment, there is no past or future. Instead, there is an expansive sense of the eternal, a space where Infinite Patience resides.

~An alternate route to the same expansive destination involves gazing at the center of the mandala with soft eyes. Stay with it and you will notice movement as various tree rings appear to come forward while others recede. As you are held by fascination with what is happening, a portal in the center of the mandala will open, bringing you in contact with the old maple tree and the vibration of Infinite Patience.”

The Sacred Geometry of Life

P.C. Turczyn - Malestrom

All around and within us lies the beauty and sacred patterns of life.  As visionary artist Pamela Turczyn states in her artist statement “Ancient teachings and quantum theory teach us that the universe is comprised of vibrations consisting of light, sound and information. I believe that everything carries a unique identifying vibration, somewhat like a genetic code. “

The strands of our DNA, the cornea of our eye, snow flakes, pine cones, flower petals, diamond crystals, the branching of trees, water crystals, a nautilus shell, the star we spin around, the galaxy we spiral within, the air we breathe, and all life forms as we know them emerge out of timeless geometric codes or geometrical archetypes.
Spending an entire afternoon exploring sacred geometry I was lead in what seemed like spirals of understanding as I delved deeper into the patterns of life.  It makes sense that even our breath is moving in patterns that support sacred design and breathing space to thrive in.  If this is so, then I wonder if we place ourselves in architecture built upon the patterns of sacred geometry; immerse ourselves in visionary art; create gardens that reflect back to us the fabric of our being; and seek out practices that open and align us with our deepest knowing and understanding of these geometric archetypes  – that the mystery of life will reveal more to us, and we will come to a greater understanding and functioning of the fullness and resonance of who we are.

Chalice Well Gardens, Glastonbury

As Bruce Rawles (www.geometrycode.com) states, “It is this principle of oneness underlying all geometry that permeates the architecture of all form in its myriad diversity. This principle of interconnectedness, inseparability and union provides us with a continuous reminder of our relationship to the whole, a blueprint for the mind to the sacred foundation of all things created.”
There are many sites dedicated to Sacred Geometry – some of which will give you theory and mathematics, and others that will take you into the heart of creation.  I invite you to take a peak at Charles Gilchrist in the video and P.C. Turczyn at the blog link below.  Here are two amazing artists that are reminding us of the interconnectedness of life by “using sacred geometry as expressed in nature, light, color, rhythm, sound, and intention.”
