Soul Musings/Day 26: Living With Passionate Awareness

61

A shallow contracted breath is like running away from your own life experience.

We have to breathe.

Choosing to do so with passionate awareness brings opportunities and risks.

Falling into life moments with the abandon of a child.

How many moments of our lives are we willing to passionately breathe into.

Amelia Earhart once said, “Who wants to live a life imprisoned in safety?”

Timing is everything and nothing, yet if we decide to hold back the moment is lost.

Declare to explore the passion embodied within a full breath,  awaiting as a lover with open arms.

Soul Musings is a 31-day practice for the month of December immersed in deep listening to what is emerging and unfolding day by day.  Eight sentences with occasional resources to explore more deeply.

Each post, invited by Soul, allows the words to emerge unscathed from prior planning, editing, or censorship.  Dwelling in uncertainty and dipping a toe into mystery this union of words is an attempt to resonate within an innate way of Being…. returning “home”.

Soul Musings/Day 25: The Other Side of Giving

GiveandReceive

Many of us are raised in the belief that to give is more important than to receive. It took me the longest time to realize that like the inhale and exhale one was not better than the other.

In fact without being able to fully receive there would be no place for giving at all. An inhale must be partnered with an exhale for life to continue.

Just the other day I was given a gift of money that was unexpected. Though it took me by surprise I was able to open my heart and receive this gift with deep gratitude.

The person that gave this gift to me was able to tell me that she had gone through a inner process before deciding to gift me with the money and that very process opened up a space of possibility within her that was not there prior to the giving.

Receiving, a gift we offer to the one who is giving.

Soul Musings/Day 21: Offering

Solstice – the day with the least physical light. Darkness holding untold gifts that we have yet to unwrap.

Using this time of diminished light to explore the passages where breath moves. Reflecting our unique expression and offering to the world.

This darkness is a reminder of so often holding on to our fullness of Being, hiding it where no one can see. Yet serving as a gestational womb where it is the hand maiden of possibilities to birth.

Rest here and breathe as the inhale is brought forth from outside light submerging itself into the dark passages within….. and held for a moment on the sacred altar of a pause, until the exhale is birthed from the dark in ultimate surrender.

Aware there is no guarantee that breath will once again be taken in from the light we offer our life from the darkness….

“Too Sacred”
There is a private chamber in the soul
That knows the secret of which no tongue can speak
Your existence, Oh love…my dear, has been sealed and marked
“Too sacred, too sacred,” by the Beloved, to ever end!
Indeed, God has written a thousand promises
All over your heart that say
Life, life, life is far
Too sacred
To ever
End

~Hafiz

Soul Musings/Day 20: Love’s Greatest Gift

10592770_10152165726306296_1412200901897746343_n

Breathing love onto the Earth

Inspired growing things to rise up from rich, dark soil

Feeding the human that gave their labor

Who then share their food with the family nearby

An offering is left on the altar that evening

Found by the fox in the nearby glen

Who drops some along the way

Enriching the earth where it came from

Soul Musings/Day 15: Attentive Holiday Breathing

Smile-Hahn

Mailing packages at the post office today I felt it. That rather frantic irritable energy that seemed to be emanating off of many there.

One of my clients this week noticed that she felt irritable after coming home from work. She couldn’t get a handle on why.

I feel it in the space – the holiday breath holding – and have a natural remedy   always on hand to soothe this energy and return the owner of any particular body back to a connected embodied peace.

Of course you know what I am going to say – breathe fully from the belly reaching upwards into the diaphragm, expanding the ribcage and dropping the shoulders down to the earth, inhale after exhale.

Such a simple practice that can be done wherever you are with side effects that ripple out to those around you. Try it out and feel the energy shift as you attentively relax into your next breath and a soft smile emerges on your face….
